This review will focus on all the different discounts that individuals can receive with Farm Bureau car insurance. The available discounts depend on a lot of factors, including driving history, number of policies, and how often the car is driven.

What are the different kinds of Farm Bureau discounts available?

There are more than a dozen different discounts available to Farm Bureau car insurance customers. It is important to speak to your agent directly or call the main toll-free customer service number to find out if you qualify for any reductions in premiums.

Here a few discounts you may be eligible for:

  • Good student – Farm Bureau car insurance offers a discount for students that maintain excellent grades along with a clean driving record. For customers with Farm Bureau car insurance, student drivers who maintain a grade point average of “B” or its equivalent can earn a premium discount.
  • Multi-policy – Farm Bureau insurance customers who not only insure their car with the company but also have another policy are eligible for an additional reduction through the multi-policy discount. This can include:
    • Insuring more than one car
    • Insuring your home
    • Having a life insurance policy
    • Having financial investments with Farm Bureau Financial Services
  • Members Choice – Farm Bureau agents can create a unique, custom policy that allows customers to have a single deductible, regardless of how many insurance policies they have with the company. The custom program is known as Farm Bureau Members Choice coverage.
  • Safe drivers – There is also a driver discount for individuals who are classified as safe drivers, or for drivers who have no moving violations or at-fault or no-fault accidents.
  • Discounts on equipment  – Farm Bureau members receive an upgraded John Deere Rewards membership (Platinum 1) – which unlocks extra discounts on equipment, parts, and merchandise.
  • Hotels – Farm Bureau has a vast portfolio of hotels and resorts that offer a variety of accommodations to meet your travel needs. Whether you are looking for an upscale hotel, an all-inclusive resort or something more cost-effective, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has the right hotel for you!

Good Drivers, Loyal Customers, and Driveology

Individuals who have a clean driving record with no accidents, but have had a gap in insurance coverage, do not qualify for a safe driving discount.

Any action that causes a lapse in coverage can end up hurting you or your record. It’s not worth going without the protection of car insurance, even for a day.

Since there are so many companies offering auto insurance, Farm Bureau offers a loyalty credit to its policyholders. This is a discount or premium reduction that is given to customers for simply renewing their policy with Farm Bureau.

If you have a vehicle that you drive on a limited basis but still need to insure due to personal needs or state laws, Farm Bureau offers a discount for drivers who only put 7,500 or fewer miles per year on their car.

This “pleasure driving” discount is offered as a credit back to the individual’s account.

A discount program available for younger drivers is another safety-first program where drivers who are 25 years old or younger can take a special Farm Bureau program called Driveology.

Once this class is completed, drivers are eligible to earn an additional discount. The point of the class is to teach young drivers the responsibilities associated with being on the road, and how to be a safe and responsible driver.

Other Ways to Reduce Your Rates

In addition to the above-mentioned discounts, Farm Bureau offers other ways for customers to save money on their premium. Although these ideas are not discounts, they can ultimately reduce the premium and the monthly amount that policyholders must pay each month.

  • By increasing your deductible, you can lower your premium. A deductible is out of pocket cost of having a covered claim done. While the insurance company pays most of the cost of the claim, the customers are responsible for the deductible.
    • This amount ranges from $100 to $1000 or more. The lower the insurance deductible, the higher the car insurance premium will be for the individual. So although this is not a discount, if you are a good driver or know that you will have the deductible available in the case of a claim, it can be beneficial to the driver and help save money.
  • Another way to save money is to maintain good credit. A good credit score can help lower your premium since insurance companies look at a consumer’s credit as part of the approval process.
  • Finally, if you do not need certain types of coverage, or you drive an older car or if the car is worth less than the deductible amount, you can save money on the premium by canceling your comprehensive and collision coverage.
