Allstate offers a special discount on your auto insurance if you do not have any accidents or violations for 3 years and an additional discount if you maintain a clear record for 5 years.

How did Allstate get started?

In 1930, a friend of Robert E. Wood–the president of Sears, Roebuck and Company–suggested that Sears create an automobile insurance company and offer it through the mail.

By 1931, Allstate became a division of the company.

In 1993, Allstate separated from Sears, Roebuck and Company, and formed a publicly traded firm. By June of 1995, all of its financial ties to Sears were cut when Sears divested the rest of its shares to Sears stockholders.

Amica’s 100 Years Of Experience

In 1907, the Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of America (Amica) began offering auto insurance in Providence, Rhode Island.

The founder, A. T. Vigneron, based his company on selling to low risk drivers and paying dividends exclusively to the policyholders.

Amica was able to increase its number of policyholders and pay out dividends on most policies during the market crash of 1929.

Today, Amica has 3,000 employees and provides insurance in 39 states across the country. It moved its headquarters from Providence to Lincoln, Rhode Island in 1994 to a bigger office complex.
