Virginia Surety Car Insurance Review [2024]

First went to get insurance for SR 22 at first it seemed like a good deal so we went with the insurance company. At the end of my SR 22. Period I called to have my insurance dropped because I no longer needed. SR 22. They said at first that I needed a paper stating that I don’t have to have SR 22 anymore. I went to the DMV and I paid $14 for a driving record because the DMV said that they do not give out papers anymore stating that you do not need SR 22 that the only thing they could do was give me my driving record. I took it up to the insurance company and they refused to drop my insurance. They kept stating that they needed a paper stating that I no longer needed. SR 22. I kept repeating to them that the insurance does not give out papers like this anymore. They still refused to drop my insurance. These people are crooks and they do not want to help you better yourself when it comes to your driving. I had zero accidents in a three-year period not even a speeding ticket and still they refused to drop the price of my insurance, even though I’ve done everything they asked me to do. I suggest if you need any kind of special insurance, do not go here these people are crooks.

My parents had this insurance fo many years and as far as I know the insurance itself was fine. But trying to get it canceled after my last parent died was a nightmare. First of all , it was hard to get anyone to even answer the phone, but finally I did reach a real person. To cancel my mom's auto insurance I had to send five or six documents showing that she had died, the car had been sold, the new title, the small estate affidavit and a couple of other things. Since there was no executor and I had made the last payment myself when she was ill, I requested that they send a refund check made out to me. I sent a canceled check to prove that I had indeed made the payment myself. Weeks went by; nothing happened. I had to contact them again. When I finally got the refund check after several more weeks, it was made out to my deceased mother. Fortunately her checking account was still active so I was able to deposit it. Then there was the homeowners insurance. She had two properties insured on the same policy and we sold one of them. This required new insurance on the second property. I called and asked for a quote. Days went by. No response. Finally had to buy insurance through another company because they didn't give me a quote until the actual day that I needed it. I'm sure I paid more but at least I got service with the other company. Took two tries with two different agents to finally get the homewowners canceled and then they emailed me wanting me to send them proof of executor so that they could make the refund check out to me. This is the same agent that I had already been through this with before and who ignored my request the first time about who to make the check out to. I had to explain (again) that under the small estate law there is no executor, but this time I asked them to make it out to my mom since I discovered I can deposit it in her name. Finally got the refund check. Anyway, I'm very very happy to be done with Virginia Farm Bureau. Of all the businesses I've had to deal with since my mom's death, both large and small, they have been the most difficult. Very nice to talk to on the phone (when they answer it), but nothing ever gets done without prodding. They pride themselves on personal, local service, but it's just a poorly run place in my opinion.

I purchased this policy 3 years ago after being greatly disappointed with the company I then had. The agent was helpful and listened to my needs. The process was quick and painless. Any time I've had a question or concern the agent has been readily available to speak with me. Last year, when it came time to renew the policy, my agent called me and informed me of a rate hike that he thought was too expensive. He recommended another company with more reasonable rates and sent me the policy to review. Thankfully, I have not needed to file a claim against this policy but am confident that if that day comes, I will get help and satisfaction.
